What does our emergency lift repair service include?

It's a 24/7 service with our own technician, not subcontracted, specializing in immediate intervention. It covers:

  • Rescue of trapped people — Absolute priority. Arrival in less than 60 minutes via base in Inca and geolocated technician in Palma.
  • Breakdown with lift stopped — On-site diagnosis and repair on the first visit in 85 % cases.
  • Intermittent or partial failure — Analysis, component replacement and restoration of service.
  • Repair of damage due to misuse or vandalism — Buttons, doors, mirrors, floors and cabin elements.
  • Fault after power outage or voltage surge — Reset the control panel, check for electrical damage, replace burned-out components.
  • Entrapment of objects or dirt in doors or guides — Cleaning, adjustment and functional test.
  • Technical report of the intervention with description of the fault, components replaced and signature of the technician.

For breakdowns resulting from poor maintenance that occur repeatedly over time, we recommend reviewing your current contract and, if necessary, replacing it with our preventive maintenance service for lifts in Mallorca which drastically reduces the incidence of recurring breakdowns.

What to do if you get stuck in a lift?

Before we continue, here's what's important to know in an immediate emergency:

  1. Stay calm. The lift has redundant safety systems. It won't fall or collapse. Being trapped is uncomfortable, but not dangerous.
  2. Press the alarm button (yellow bell) on the keypad. This activates the two-way communication system with the maintenance service.
  3. If you have a mobile phone with coverage, call 971 17 81 51. Your name, exact address and approximate floor are enough for the technician to come out immediately.
  4. Do not attempt to force the doors. The doors have safety interlocks. Forcing them can cause injury and damage to the equipment.
  5. If there are children or elderly people present, keep them close and speak calmly. Rescue will arrive quickly.

The average time from the call to the physical rescue of the person in Mallorca is 40-60 minutes in urban areas and up to 90 minutes in inland towns or on the north coast. In 95% of cases, there is no harm or injury: only discomfort.

What is the process from your call to the working lift?

  1. We answer your call in less than 30 seconds. Real person, not an answering machine.
  2. We collect the basic data: exact address, floor, quick description of the breakdown, if there are people trapped.
  3. We dispatch the nearest on-call technician (geolocated in real time from our control center in Inca).
  4. On-site arrival in under 60 minutes on most of the island. For rescues involving trapped individuals, absolute priority over any other intervention.
  5. Diagnosis and repair. In the 85 % faults, the problem is resolved on the first visit with stock parts that we carry in the vehicle.
  6. Testing and commissioning. Five consecutive trips without incident before the service was declared restored.
  7. Report signed by the technician delivered to the president or administrator, with a description of the fault, components replaced and recommendations.

If the repair requires parts not currently in stock, we will leave the lift in a safe condition (marked off, locked if necessary) and return as soon as the part arrives, usually within 24-72 hours. Details are provided in How long does it take to repair a lift?.

How much does an emergency lift repair cost?

It depends on three things: whether your community has a maintenance contract, what time the intervention is scheduled, and what parts need to be replaced.

SituationIndicative cost
Community with a preventive contract Eleva Balear, intervention during working hoursIncluded in monthly fee
Community with a preventive contract Eleva Balear, out-of-hours intervention€60 – €120 travel + parts
Community without contract, occasional intervention during working hours€90 – €180 travel + labor + parts
Community without a contract, intervention outside of business hours or on holidays€150 – €280 travel + labor + parts
Rescue of trapped people (without contract)€120 – €220 fixed + parts if applicable

Parts are invoiced at the manufacturer's list price, with a discount for communities with a contract. Before any work exceeding €300 in parts, we request authorization from the president or administrator to avoid any surprises on the invoice.

Communities with a preventive maintenance contract of Eleva Balear include labor for repairs up to the agreed-upon level, which in practice means that most repairs don't involve an additional charge. We detail this when we provide a maintenance quote.

Why Eleva Balear for your lift emergency

Over 700 lifts under maintenance in Mallorca. We know the brands, models, and typical shaft dimensions of buildings in Palma and inland towns. Working on a building in the center of Palma with a narrow staircase and old flooring is not the same as working on a modern building in Marratxí. Local experience matters.

With its own headquarters in Inca, in the geographical center of Mallorca, the technician can reach Palma, Manacor, Sa Pobla, Alcúdia, or Felanitx in similar timeframes. For comparison, a company based only in Palma can take more than twice as long to reach the north coast.

24/7 on-call technician with company mobile. The number 971 17 81 51 remains operational at 3:00 AM, on Christmas Day, and in August. There are no holiday closures or reduced hours.

99% satisfaction rating based on post-intervention surveys. The vast majority of communities we serve for the first time in an emergency end up contracting our subsequent preventative maintenance service.

Frequently asked questions about urgent lift repairs

Do you service lifts of other brands or only those you have installed yourselves?

We service lifts of all makes and models. Spanish regulations require that any authorized company can work on any lift, regardless of the manufacturer. In practice, in Mallorca we work with equipment from Otis, KONE, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp, Embarba, Orona, and all other common manufacturers on the island.

Can I call you even though I have a maintenance contract with another company?

Yes. If your usual maintenance company doesn't respond or takes an excessively long time, you can hire us for a one-off emergency service. This service is billed as a standby service. It's common for communities to switch maintenance providers after an emergency that was poorly handled by their previous company.

What happens if the breakdown is due to a maintenance failure by another company?

We repaired the fault to restore service as soon as possible and issued a detailed technical report. If the community decides to file a claim against the previous maintenance company for poor maintenance, the signed technical report serves as supporting documentation for that claim.

How long does a rescue take in a lift if there are people trapped?

In Mallorca, the average time from the initial call to the actual rescue is 40-60 minutes in urban areas (Palma, Inca, Manacor) and up to 90 minutes in remote areas (Cap de Formentor, Andratx, Pollença). Any rescue call has absolute priority over all other interventions that day.

Is it legal to use the lift if the breakdown has not been fully resolved?

No. If the malfunction compromises the safety of users, the lift must be taken out of service until the repair is completed. The technician in charge is responsible for determining whether the lift can continue operating or must be shut down, and for posting the appropriate warning sign. It is the owner's responsibility to comply with this warning.
